Introduction
This part of the blog is mainly addressed to those in the (un)fortunate position of having to lead acapella groups. (Note: by leading I don’t mean lead singer, I mean the person in charge of getting the whole group in sync).
We’ll be splitting it into 2 main chunks: The Basics and Beyond The Basics (this is blatantly plagiarised from UpToDate btw).
The Basics is for those relatively new to leading in acapella music. We’ll teach you a simple and structured way to get your group to reasonable performance standard within about 3-4 practices.
Beyond the Basics is for those who’ve been leading practices for a while, and the song sounds decent, but you want to go further. This section is much more extensive and analytical, and the things we’ll discuss are sometimes a bit abstract. Please bring along your YouTube access to understand what we’re talking about.
Keep in mind: the eye cannot see, nor the ear hear, nor the mouth do, what the mind does not know.
Therefore, do consider directing your fellow singers to look through some of these articles too! You are all perfectly intelligent people, capable of understanding many of the concepts we’ll be elaborating upon. And if you can get everyone in the group to understand, yall will be well on the way to achieving better music together!

Note: if your group doesn’t sound very nice yet, do consider if the issue lies with individual people (in which case, refer to the Reading Music segment or the Beatboxing segment), or with the arrangement itself (in which case you could look at the Arranging Tips section to figure out how to tweak it yourself).
